Funny about names. People often name new places after old places back home.

My people migrated from the Carolina states in the US down through Georgia into south central Alabama. There a new community was founded by the name of "Carolina Community". In Idaho, there is the town of Moscow.

Way back when the Indian people of Alabama - mostly Cherokee - were forceably removed from the land here and marched to the Oklahoma reservations - the march become known amongst the people as "the Trail of Tears". This land had been theirs for hundreds if not thousands of years. Indian life amongst the Cherokee was organized around towns, and many towns in Alabama still bear those names - Eufala, Wetumpka, Weogufka, Tukabatchee and others. When the Cherokee arrived in Oklahoma, they proceeded to build towns again, and give them names from whence they came. Today, as you drive out through Oklahoma on I-40 you can find the old Cherokee town names - Eufala, Wetumpka, Weogufka, Tukabatchee and others.
