H John,

That drawing looks like a good start.

Copy the obvious design elements from the vanagon wherever possible. If you make the taillights, wheel arches and the angle of the roof and box consistent with the design of the vanagon the trailer will look like it belongs behind it. A vanagon westy pop-top with gas- assist struts up top would be icing on the cake.

I did mine in plywood, if I'd had done fibreglass originally it would have been a lot harder to re-engineer as I refined it.... And I don't have the space or skillset to do fibreglass, either.
