I have just been examining a SA grille today, sent to me by list member
Bill Manley, for purposes of determining whether they can be replicated
on my vacuum forming machine, since the SA Grille is now supposedly  "NLA".

 While there is some flexibility, they are in no way "flimsey", in my
opinion. Like many things of that type, the engineers knew what they
were doing. When you buckle the thing downe, it takes on plenty of
rigidity. Same is true for the light and bracket that comes with the
grille. /The glass in the light is :"Hea----veee!". The bracket on which
it mounts at first seems very thing for something so stout as that
light, but then if you look close at the stiffening ridges and you know
they got it right. The light and bracket attach to the body of the
vehicle, and not to the grille for mounting. So the grille carries no
weight at all but it's own.
