They often brought in containers of German and South African stuff. Neat stuff like 5 speed Vanagon transmissions. When the tranny in my 87 Vanagon died in 1996 I checked on a 5 speed. About $1100 my cost then. that seemed like too much for me then. Duh! I wish I'd bought it now. BTW, these were Southa African 5 speeds with 4.57 R & P. They imported a lot of diesel stuff maybe 5 years ago, but it seems to have all dried up. About all they show now is th 2.6 5 cylinder kit. $6450 with the CARB listed exhaust. $1500 less without it.
