Without even notifying the list that I had a problem on my van a solution was presented, and of course the possibilities were thoroughly discussed. The fuel pump on my Federal '82 AC had steadily become louder over the last month or so. Fortunately I have one of the pre-pump square filters and it had filled up with rust colored sediment. The restricted flow was obvious and the noise went away once the filter was replaced. Now I have a question. The sediment was more like dirt than rust flakes although it was rust colored. I have had tanks rust out before and remember dealing with lots of rust flakes. Does it sound like my tank is on its way out or is there another part of the system that has produced this filter clogging material? Thanks, Jonathan Poole '82 AC Westy |
