There are a few things you need to consider. What is compatible with the pump and other materials in that system, what you intend to clean, flammability, and how you will get rid of the waste which may be considered hazardous waste. There are a number of petroleum and water based solvents available. Most water based solutions work best heated. These solvents have worked well for me over the years.

The one with lanoline is a bit easier on the hands.

I got a new 40 gallon Parts Washer, what would be the best solvent to fill it with? Thanks

Adam
