For several years I used one of these in my Westfalia:

and it worked very well, cable or antenna.
I've since switched to an external TV tuner for my laptop to take up less
room and have an 'all in one' solution.
There are a bunch of small LCD TV/DVD players on the market right now, check
eBay for a bunch.
The Sansui setup above or the laptop setup (with an amplified external
antenna) has worked well for me, I don't have any experience with the flat
screen LCD/DVD setups.

Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
