 I believe that mine is the German version, as it was listed/sold as the
Euro grille by BD, so your explanation seems right on. It might flex like
you said, but I didn't want to test it to see if it could break. In any
event, now that it is installed it seems fine, & I am satisfied w/ it.  The
Hella lights/brackets that came w/ it seem very heavy duty.
