Remember back in January of 2003 Jeff Schwaia was going to bid on a wrecked '88 white Westfalia which was up at a wrecking yard auction in Los Angeles. As I recall it had damage to the driver's side behind the driver's door in the mid section of the bus and was marked as a total. A few us gave Jeff what we were willing to pay for certain parts. I offered up some money for the fiberglass bumpers and someone else spoke for the aftermarket alloy wheels, or vice versa. In the end the auction went too high and Jeff didn't get the bus or something of that sort. I believe it went to another bidder. Or maybe Jeff found it too nice to part out in the end--I forget exactly. Anyway, I saw this white '88 Westy on ebay tonight and thought "those aftermarket wheels look just like the wheels on the white Westy that was up for salvage auction a few years back." Then I read the Westy on Ebay has a salvage title due to being totaled by driver's side damage. The damage has since been repaired by the previous owner on the Ebay Westy according to the ad. The person selling the bus on ebay is selling because they are off to college. So let's assume it's a young person who only owned the bus for two or three years. Could it be the salvaged white 88 Westy with driver's side damage and aftermarket alloy wheels and fiberglass bumpers that was offered for auction in 2003? I don't know. But it's pretty to think so.
