When I had this exact problem ... turn key ... hesitation ... then the solenoid would kick in ... sometimes more of a problem than others, sometimes no problem at all. I fixed it by CLEANING all contacts. I cleaned the battery posts and connectors, the battery ground where it attaches to the body, the ring terminals at the starter, the push on connector at the starter solenoid, and the ground strap at the transmission ... both ends ... the body as well as the strap. That was two years ago and no hesitation since. Mike
