I almost bought a used turbo that was installed on a vanagon. It connected off the tailpipe (after the muffler but he said it could be put either before or after--and he had removed the cat) It ran a return hose into the oil pan through the filler and the feed line into the side of the pan. The guy selling it said he blew up the first engine after about 8 months. The second engine lasted 20-30K miles (and then sold the van) but the second time around he said he was careful to gently use the throttle and let the AFM compensate. He had the boost set of 8psi with internal gate if remember right. He said it had a ton of power.

The part about blowing up the first engine kept me from buying it. I think I kept the photos of the turbo installed. I am thinking of adding a small Greddy type turbo to my 2.0 Subie van. I think that engine may have been a turbo anyway before the transplant.
