Subject: Useful Fuel Load
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

In the aviation world, pilots - and mechanics fro that matter - have to deal with weight issues and center-of-gravity issues for the purpose of balancing loads in airplanes for controlable flight. On aspect of that for the pilot on every flight is working with the "useful fuel" load on the airplane. There is a total fuel, and usable fuel. And residual fuel, ie, fuel in the airplanes systems, which cannot be burned, but affects the empty weight of the ariplane. This unburnable fuel has to be accounted for.

I wonder what the "useful fuel" load is on our Vans. Book fuel tank capacity vs the useable fuel - that which can actually be burned. How much is let in the system whne the engine quits from fuel starvation. Is the tank truly empty?? or is there a residual left in the system including the tank?. And how much?

Just curious.
