The longer the boat, the better it tracks and the faster it goes.  That once
is a dream, Loren!

Tom, it's 47 lbs - maybe the same weight as a plastic rec boat.  My first
kayak was two feet shorter than that one and plastic - it was 65 lbs.  The
better the boat, the lighter, in the kayak world.  Ever seen a
skin-on-frame?  I considered one that was a very similar design to the one
in that photo - actually a foot shorter and an inch wide - around 28 lbs, as
I recall.  But sense prevailed and I realized that I didn't need another
kayak.  And that I already had a Kevlar kayak of the exact same design as
the skin-on-frame (37 lbs in Kevlar).

I could acquire kayaks the way you guys acquire vanagons!  I try not to,
though.

Oh, but the problem with the kayak is lifting the poptop - getting the boat
up onto the racks isn't too hard.

Anyway I stopped carrying the kayak, and I haven't paddled since.  I'm
rather getting to miss it!
