The VW power window switches are held into a plastic surround. if the

plastic surround is damaged, it will come off your door panel. When popping the switches off the door panel it is easy to damage the surround, instead of popping the switch out. Perhaps that is your real problem. The surrounds were available at the dealer the last time I needed one (2 years ago).
