Kind of a tough row to hoe there. The difference in voltage between 100%
charge and 20% charge is only about one volt under the best of
circumstances. Throw in variations due to temperature and you have a hard
time nailing down that halfway point without venturing into the realm of
electronics.. Your best bet is to just buy one of those "battery saver" type
products:
