Jeff,

I have never had a gas tank related problem. I think problems are most likely in vans that been sitting for a substantial period of time with no gas in the tank.

I wouldn't change it unless there was reason to do so. If you are real worried about it, pull it and look inside and make a decision based on what you see. You will have plenty of time to do that while the conversion is being done.

Compare some of the list vendors before buying one off ebay. Often ebay prices start at more than some of the list vendors charge.
