Some black soot is normal. Especially in areas of cold weather. No need to worry unless there are other symptoms.

85 1.9 cleaned injectors from cruzin, plugs, dist, rotor done 10mths ago I just adjusted my valves a few weeks ago I am no noticing black carbon build up on the tail pipe

Is the incomplete combustion some else need tuning ?
