Roger, when I check the timing on my '84, I clip the timing light lead that
needs +12 volts on the +12 volt alternator terminal.  I clip the lead that
needs to connect to ground on the a spot on the frame that takes the lead
away from the fan belt, etc.  Please don't make the mistake I have made in
the past and clip the sensor around the #2 plug wire.  Make sure you use the
#1 plug wire.
