Subject: fuel line replacement

I'm working on fuel line replacement with the help of Ben Huot's excellent website here: http://www.benplace.com/fuel_line.htm

At the injectors there are these little metal "cuffs." What is their purpose? How are the short hoses attached with no clamps on the injector end? It looks like I could get the clamp closer to the injector if I remove them. Should I leave them on? It looks like Ben left them on. Ben, how did you get your injectors so nice and clean? On your website they look grungy in one photo, then sparkling clean in the next. Or did you replace them, and what we see are the new ones?

Edward
