Those little cuffs or collars on the fuel injector hoses are to hold the hoses on the barbed fittings.

I used a #11 x-acto knife to cut the hoses out from under the collars and reused them when I put the new hoses on.

On my '84 I put a fuel hose clamp on in addition to the collars but on my '85 I used the collars only and I've had no weeping in 2 years.
