Hello, Thanks again for all the suggestions. The head is off. I had determined that the head was stuck on one stud. I put a nut on the stud. Then, for as long as I could stand it every day, I hammered the stud this way and that using a brass drift. After 4 days, the head showed some movement. Then, I changed to tightening the nut down on the head, loosening the nut, and hammering the head outward. Two one hour sessions of doing this repeatedly finally got the head loose. The cylinders stayed on the case. Thanks again for your help, Mike -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Stuck Head Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 19:43:57 -0700 From: "Michael A. I backed off the head nuts. However, the head wouldn't budge. So, I cut away all of the outer water gasket and can slip a knife between the head and the water jacket all the way around, but the head is still stuck fast. I then noticed that all of the studs can be moved about a bit in the head, except for one, which seems to be one with the head. I suspect that it is corroded in place and is the cause of the stuck head. I can't be the first one to have this problem. Any advice what to do next? Thanks, Mike -- Phoenix AZ |
