How is that? What are the Dodge mechanics going
to say when they see a Vanagon instead of a Dodge
in the shop?? That they love their service
manager?
Sure it's a Dodge engine but not in it's
original environment- this is not a common sight
in Dodge City.
Far less common are Dodge mechanics familiar with
VW color codes, as troubleshooting an engine
electrical problem will be very interesting to
watch.
What's wrong with a VW engine in a VW Vanagon?
They did'nt make enough choices?
I have a hard enough time comparing the '95 Golf
color codes and components and asking for parts
at Shnucks or the local VW store. They ask , What
make ? VW What year? Well, uh, er it's an '82
Vanagon with a '95 Golf engine.
Now substitute DODGE for Golf and watch their
eyes. Sometimes I end up confusing myeself more
then them, and I'm the "genius" who did the
conversion.
I have to make sure when I buy spark plugs that I
say '92 Jetta 1.8 and not '95 Jetta or I'll get
the wrong size. That's because I have a 1.8
Digifant Golf head on a 2.0 '95 block.
Start throwing this at the service manager at a
VW shop and he might likely decline the job.
I also don't see why the Dodge AC compressor will
be better than the VW one?
