The weeping out of hole isn't very dramatic. When I discovered it in my Syncro's water pump a few years ago and learned what it was (not head gaskets thankfully) I realized that it had been going on for some time and I would occasionally see a small amount of coolant and not recognize what I should be looking for.

I realized it was a steady though small leak during a two week period of several snow storms and very cold weather. It was much easier to see a few drops of coolant on the snow / ice below the car than to see it on the street.

So, I replaced mine before any failure, but after several months of the weeping. I wouldn't advise waiting as long as I did.

I just remembered that I still have a new little hose that takes coolant into the oil cooler that I bought because I thought that was the source of the leak. The old one was fine so I left it on there.

I need to offer that for sale since I no longer have a 2.1 WBX.

Sam
