As some may remember, I posted a while back about trucking my 84 Westy from Salt Lake City to Boston for a trip we have planned in the 2nd half of May. It is going to happen, but the more I research auto transporters, the more hesitant I become to trust my baby to one. Doing my research on the web, there are gazillions of auto transport companies or at least brokers who get a real carrier for you & take a cut of the cost. The problem is that many of them appear to be fly by night operations & scams w/ little reliability for getting the vanagon there on time & in 1 piece. It also appears that anything I ship in the westy that's not screwed down, is not covered insurance wise, & for a camping trip, obviously we would need a bunch of stuff that we normally carry in the westy. Does any one have specific recommendations for a reliable carrier that they have used & can recommend again? Thanks, Tom-4 days driving, 2500 miles 1 way, or $1100 to ship, my peace of mind=priceless? |
