Hi

Welcome to the list. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

1: RUST: http://www.zorck.dk/t3/

2: Get the Haynes and or Bentley Repair manual for your car.

3: Spareparts - get yo know your local junkyards.

Lurk on the list, as well on www.thesamba.com Vanagon forum, find some buddy's near you - can help you a lot to have contacts nearby. When you've had a Vanagon for a while, you tend to build up a lot of spares :-)

Coolant, search the list and web for Vanagon Coolant. The engine is a bit hysteric about the right coolant.

9. Do I need to undercoat the van? I live 3 blocks from the beach; is a fresh water wash once a week enough? The vanagon came from the Orlando area, which is not close to the beach, so this is the first time the van will be exposed to ocean air. UNDERCOOAT IT!!!!!!!! http://www.zorck.dk/t3/

Happy driVWing
