We got back last night from our hectic tour in the '82 Diesel Westy. First to Daryl at AATransaxle, who true to his word, had my 5 speed rebuilt in an amazing 4 hours! Thanks Daryl - it was great finally meeting someone who has been enormously helpful over the years. Also picked up various parts, and fortunately had no trouble getting back to Canada with them. I can say that driving from Vancouver to Salmon Arm, BC, via Seattle and Stevens Pass makes for a *very* long day! We arrived just after 1am, after leaving 7am the day before. The van did awesome as usual, surprising me by managing both Stevens Pass and the Coqihalla in 3rd gear, no mean feat for a stock '82 Diesel. Now I just need to get busy installing the new tranny and parts! For those in the market for a Diesel Westy, watch this space, mine will be listed soon once I get the poptop seal on and few other things finished.

ps: Thanks for the suggestions on shops near Seattle - only had time to find Biessman VW, which was certainly not worth the drive. Maybe next time...
