How much is your time worth? Assuming a 2k commercial job and his $50, how many hours would you have to put in at your job to come up with the $1950 difference? The alternate painting/sanding is pretty common for trying to get a deep even finish on a car that you want people to look at. I bet he's pretty quick about it by now. It actually doesn't take much time to wet sand a car. It takes longer to mask it off, and he apparently avoided most of that. I ran across this: "I think if you re-read the entire thread (including the original in the Mopar forum) that you will find the answers to all your questions. Get several cups of coffee, reading this will take you hours. Patience is good for the soul. Tremclad is a Canadian company but owned by Rustoleum. Tremclad is not sold in the US and they will not ship to the US. Rustoleum has different formulations for California and the other 49 states. Some folks had good luck with Rustoleum Pro versions in California but variable results with the Rustoleum standard." So who's gonna be the guinea pig? If you have nothing but time on your hands, there is no reason you shouldn't do it. Please note that he painted the car three times and wet-sanded the car FOUR times before buffing it out!
