Thought I'd share some info. Dip stick broke right after leaving Vancouver BC. Lucky I got remainder out of the dipstick tube. I kept end w/ring for plugging tube, but needed new dip. After launching laughter at every Schucks etc. when asking for new dipstick, I thought up a solution for a makeshift part. (generic adjustable stick won't fit btw.........) Got bailing wire, measured it out to several inches longer than double the length of original dipstick, doubled it up and twisted it together w/drill. It's flexible enough to go in but strong enough to keep its' length. Polished oil end w/emery and bent end that you hold at 90 deg. to stop it at right distance. I use orig. end w/ring for plug, and have marked it w/level indicator marks from orig. end. so can compare to makeshift stick. Hope this makes sense. (I know I really should post links to this stuff on a web page of my own. I will set one up when I get back home.) Neil Nicholson. 1981 AC 2.0 litre Westy.
