I mounted it according to the instructions. Perhaps the brackets are different enough unit to unit that some drip into the gutter and some don't. The Shady Boy in my opinion ranks right up there with "Top 5 Best Mods on a Bus". It has been an outstanding product that works as advertised. The only time we have had to take it down was during the night in a windstorm. I have read on this list it is very important to use the downdraft poles, so I tie it down every time. Another cool feature is too be able link up ShadyBoys with some other lucky bus pilot ad create a nice shady "room" between two buses. Park two other buses at right angles to that and you have a nice bus camping quadrangle. Gotta go camping now, See ya later!
