i agree on the samba today i saw someone post about fuel prices saying that a 4000 mile trip, even an increase in one mile per gallon added up and he's right - to thirty more dollars

okay

so a) i think we should all burn a lot less gasoline - and b) thirty bucks is thirty bucks - but an alaska trip is the sort of thing people write books about -

9000 miles amounts to 450 gallons of gas at 20 mpg, right - if gas went back down to a few months ago say $2.20 thats about a thousand dollars - at $3.50 thats $1575 - and lets face it - bush is going to have to do something - he apparently can lie about war, violate the geneva convention, illegally wiretap, abuse his power to get revenge on those who expose the lies, bungle katrina response, and render political prisoners to countries who look the other way regarding torture, but let those gas prices climb and he's cooked. ay yi yi

my .02 x X = what , i dont know

good luck :~ )

Do the math and figure that if you cut back on eating out one meal a week, you'll pay for the added fuel cost. OR! if you 'stealth camp' (or one night in a truck stop etc) one night a week, you'll pay for the added fuel cost. IMHO it would really be a shame to 'kill' off "a trip of a life-time" for just a few hundred extra dollars. More than likely, gas will be MORE expensive next year, and every year there after. m2cw. "I long ago lost a hound, a bay horse, and a turtle dove, and am still on their trail. Many are the travelers I have spoken to concerning them, describing their tracks and what calls they answered to. I have met one or two who had heard the hound, and the tramp of the horse, and even seen the dove disappear behind a cloud, and they seemed as anxious to recover them as if they had lost them themselves." - henry thoreau
