Subject: Engine air control flap question (somewhat urgent :^)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi all.

Am really enjoying road trip!

Fairly urgent question.

I'm travelling through Oregon now. OUtside temp is higher than previous in WA.

Cable connected to bellow for controlling air flaps in engine is broken. Have removed bellow and hope to replace cable but...... I have wired the flaps in what I believe is the open position to allow air to cool engine better. (I assume bellow contracts, pulls cable and opens flaps)

Am I doing the right thing? It idles rougher when cool, but otherwise seems fine. I want to keep things as cool as poss.

Running an 81 air cooled 2.0 litre gas.

TIA for any help!

Neil Nicholson.
