How much is your time worth? Assuming a 2k commercial job and his $50, how many hours would you have to put in at your job to come up with the $1950 difference?

The alternate painting/sanding is pretty common for trying to get a deep even finish on a car that you want people to look at. I bet he's pretty quick about it by now. It actually doesn't take much time to wet sand a car. It takes longer to mask it off, and he apparently avoided most of that.

I ran across this:

    If you have nothing but time on your hands, there is no reason you
shouldn't do it. Please note that he painted the car three times and
wet-sanded the car FOUR times before buffing it out!
