If it was a standard furnace (read home unit) I would say your problem is a thermocouple failure. If your furnace has a "pilot", it is a good chance that you have the same problem. Look for a 3/16 diameter (approx.) device that is in the path of the pilot flame. The pilot heats this unit.

Does anyone else have one of these? Mine is the Trumatic-e 1800 and came out of my '88 Westy, where it was installed by the PO who brought it from Germany. As far as I know, they were never sold in North America. It has worked flawlessly for about a year and a half, but on a recent trip, it either shuts down as soon as it ignites or will run for a few minutes and then shut down. It is getting gas. I have two tanks on my '90 Westy and have switched back and forth without effect. Judging from the solid red light when it shuts down (rather than fast-flashing light which indicates low voltage) and what little info there is in the owners manual, it could be a very dirty fan. The furnace is more than ten years old. Before I remove the unit and take it apart, has anyone else BTDT? Jerry
