Most of us? Wow am I in the minority out there. I just about live in mine. I have a 90 westy and every other weekend i'm off somewhere to just drive and explore. i sleep in so many rest stops, parking lots and side roads of my suburban jungle. and I try to get as far from it as possible and as far off road as i can. I LOVE my VW and I have an odd bond to that thing. maybe I am weird, but I just find it to be the best possible thing that i could own. I takes me everywhere, i can sleep in it, i can cook, i can take large groups of people places, i can carry truck sized loads of stuff and when I hold that peddle down on the open road and hit 75mph I feel like I'm driving a ferarri down the autobahn. Me and my Mothership are inseperable. =]

Instead it either sits in the garage for most of the year, or we drive it back and forth to work but don't use the camping equipment. Then there is that one to two week vacation we get a year. Or the weekend away from the kids. And we have to get the camper ready, clean up the van, double check the camping equipment, etc. Instead of al that hassle, why not just rent a westy for your trip and let someone else pay the upkeep, insurance, etc. My brother-in-law owns www.northeastcampers.com. They have five nice Westies that I personally maintain. The rental prices are reasonable when you compare it to all of the things I mention above. They are located right down the street from me in Southern New Jersey. You could drive up or fly into Philly and then catch the bus down to Millville. Then start your vacation without worrying about "will the van make it?" and all of the pre-trip stress of getting ready. You get here and the vans are ready to go and all you have to do is get in and drive.

Just an idea.
