The photo is only partial but it looks like the so called "plastic" engine lid did not burn through and yet the vehicle is still nearly a total loss. So much for the theory that a metal lid could save you. The metal around the lid shows more heat damage on top than the lid. The metal shelf gets so hot from fire underneath that whatever is touching the metal from above, mattress for example, catches on fire from contact with the hot metal.
