Sam,
Since this thread is growing, I'll spew my standard advice first...
Before buying *any* parts to cure a rough idle, always, always
*always* inspect all engine bay wiring and vacuum lines. If you've never
done so, then clean the ground connection at the left head, burnish the
ring connectors that go on it to remove corrosion, and make sure there's a
solid ground strap connecting that point to the firewall. Replace any
vacuum lines that are even remotely suspect. Remove and inspect the rubber
intake boot, flexing it gently to check for cracks. Make sure the throttle
body is tightly attached to the air box, the two screws holding it in place
sometimes work loose, creating a vacuum leak. While you are in the
neighborhood, it may be a good time to spray some carb cleaner through the
throttle body and make sure it is working freely, and closing fully (see my
response to the throttle position switch post, earlier today)
Now that I've preached to the newbies, on to your actual question. ;-)
If you have a 1.9L engine (1983-1985) that is certainly the
correct part, (also matches the photo on www.busdepot.com, search for part
#025906041). Looks just like the one in my own '85 westie.
The photo of the 2.1L sensor on www.vanagain.com (search for part
# 025906041A) looks slightly different, the electrical connector looks the
same, but the mounting looks different (seems to have female threads
instead of male threads).
I've never worked on a 2.1L engine, so I'm not sure if the sensors
are actually different. I'm sure the rest of the list posters will provide
the answer...
