This heater box is from an early vanagon?? Unlike late vanagons, the door flap hinges(whew) dont have little plastic pins that allow removal of the hinge/flap so regasketing can be easily done. Also ,these flaps dont have the plastic pieces that snap inplace and attach the gaskets. It is an old box.The good part is that it has the cut out for the BA6 heater,so I want it. There are several other changes in this box, from the late box. Will it fit a late vanagon? I have both both late and early boxes dissasembeled for comaprison.I wqanted to combine parts for the best possiable box, but I dont think any plastic or hinge parts will interchange easily. Because on the limited access, I need to use a good glue for the new gaskets. Also, what can I use for new gaskets? Is there a foam material I can get ? Maybe get it local? I need to glue these gaskets directly to metal flaps. They get pretty hot. Most glues only work to very low tempatures. Maybe 150 degrees or so. I saw this spec on many glues I once used . How about high temp RTV sealer to glue the foam to the metal? I am going to replace the blower, and clean/pressure test the core and then silicone the two halves back together and secure them with the metal snaps. It is amazing how much dust and dirt accumulates inside one of these boxes.I mean, the heater box is about the most difficult and inaccessable component of a vehicle that already has many difficult to reach areas. Not something to do lightly. With this box, the hope for a BA6 maybe a bit more real. Thanks,Roger
