Just recieved my new SA mud flaps for GoWesty and I am not too
impressed. They are a thinnish plastic material - not very durable
appearing though the fit looks good and they are plenty wide to keep the
black road/tire film from coating the sides of the van.
What are others experience wth these flaps? Are they more durable than
they seem?
Are the GoWesty (and other American vendors) SA mud flaps the same as
these http://www.southafrica-parts.de/na/?
Are there better after-market mud flaps than these?
Sam, I have these same mudflaps on my '87 Westy. They have been there for
about 8 years and have never fallen off or given any problems other than the
right hand front one cracked, probably from winter driving or impact. It was
easily repaired with a plastic patch. I bought my set from the Bus Depot but
now sell them myself, see my _Vanagon Items Forsale_
(http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm) webpage. I think they are better than the OEM ones that
Volkswagen of North America offered, just my opinion. I do not believe there
are any better ones on the market at this time.
