Many thanks to Andrew, Mike and especially Ben for his most detailed reply. You're right Ben, I'm in Ireland. In general European Vanagons tend to have more basic specification than US ones, with the possible exception of Germany, where more folks specify the option packs. Here on the outer rim of Europe they were almost never sold fully loaded and power steering, windows, mirrors, and even metallic paint tended to be rare. I have never seen a "native" Irish vanagon with power windows, mirrors or air conditioning. As a matter of interest, what would you guys regard as fair value for a used set of PS parts on eBay? This "kit" was bought from Germany into the UK by the current owner (suits me, my van is LHD and also from Germany) and he never got around to fitting it. He has 100% good feedback but, while I'm sure he's truthful, no-one knows the true condition of the parts until they're under pressure. The auction has ended and I was the highest bidder at about US$370 but the reserve was not reached. Given that the carriage will be at least another $60, am I in the ballpark on this one? Thanks, Niall |
