Ideally, you want as much thread engaged as the stud is wide. On a 14-mm stud, you would want 14-mm of thread; at 1.5 pitch, that would be between 7 and 8 turns.

That being said, my rears have 6.5 turns of engagement and have had for the last 4-years with out any problems.
