Thanks everybody that responded to my inquiry about this on Apr.29. You're telling me what I had hoped I wouldn't have to do. Anyway, the plan now is to Dremel that bolt off. I have used the Dremel tool this way before and with patience actually works quite well. Surprising how that little grinding wheel can cut through metal. The next step is to go to a local junk yard to find a good bracket. But for now something more important ! We're planning a little weeklong trip into Washington state from Victoria, BC. First stop Sol Duc Hot Springs, then explore the Olympic National Park, cross to Whidbey Island and back to Vancouver, BC and then home. I hope to get some good pictures which I will post.
