Sorry for the delay, I've been away from email for a few days.

The Dempster highway is made with sharp bits of shale instead of gravel or asphalt. Many people blow tires on the road, usually by going too fast. We took our time and had no trouble.

If you have the time (and gas money) and long Westy trip is great fun.
