All windows and doors including the sliding door are the same. The upholstery is interchangeable.

Transaxle and axle shafts interchange.

Front brakes are different but the '86 uprights, spindles and brake parts can be retrofitted to the '85. You just can't use only part of the setup.

The 2.1 basic engine can be used like a 1.9 if you transfer all the 1.9 stuff over to it (throttle body, afm, intake piping, waterpump and thermostat housing, etc.). You won't be able to use the oil cooler with the 1.9 exhaust system.

You can use the '86 instrument cluster with some rearranging of the 14 pin connector.

The fuse block is different.

Don't retrofit the '86 headlights to the '85. The light pattern is MUCH better with the round lights.

Mike '84 GL 7 pass '85 GL Westy
