You are asking all the right questions. My previous owners tinting installer made all the mistakes that you mentioned:

Sliding side windows were tinted not "completely" but only where completely accessible so there are dumb looking gaps. I will be watching to see if anyone knows how to dismount the slider section to apply film to the whole of the glass. I too wonder if fuzzy strip would the abrade tinted part would away, you know the tint is on the top layer.

I started window tinting on my 90 Westy. This was my first attempt at = >it, so naturally I read up all about it in the archives. Perhaps this is why they did not apply tint to this part of the glass in my case.

I do have AC and somehow the tint was applied all the way to the back HOWEVER not as well as the other places, it is bubbling and peeling here and nowhere else in the vehicle.

Hear, hear!

I have read extensively about removal, takes heat, ammonia and razor blades (tempered glass can be easy to scratch this way. The defrost decal on the back window is very easy to damage I guess.
