I wonder if this is a fixable problem.  I remember, once I tried my best to
install a small spring in there to replace the old one, but did not succeed
then.  I may succeed now, since I am much smarter than I was.  Maybe one of
you can give a hint how to fix it other than using some friction related
solution.
