Subject: Hard start, cold and warm (1.9)

Hey, i'm having a small proplem with one of my van, 85... Engine was rebuilt by me: http://www.benplace.com/85westy.htm Well, the whole van was restored...

So, of course i changed most mechanical componants ( all sender, distributor, ignition module, 2 injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump... and so on...)

Fuel pressure is fine, many test done, timing and all that stuff also, idle switch is working fine with 5V at the other end, AFM was tune and swap with another one just for fun, ECU also! the only real mechanical problem is the throttle body... it's kind of worned... a bit, still, i have seen worse and the they had no starting problems.

My proplem is that in the morning, it start fine but run rough for a few minutes, too low, if i give gas, it may or may not stall??? after it's warm, everything is fine with superb idle and very good power (150-160psi all around).

So i stop for gas... hard start again, i need to press the gas pedal a bit so it will start??? so i'm puzzled? The 85 as a unique throttle body and i don't have any spare!!! of course all vacuum were double check, retard on the distributor is fine... all majors componants were replace with new one, included the temp sender (swap with an old one for fun). Now, i didn't check the AFM temp sender! OS is new (OEM), of course i will find the problem with time swaping everything but!!!! maybe you guys have a quick answer, something i didn't think about.

-All grounds were replace with new wires. -AC and PS unit are working fine -the "Cold air valve"... well, i didn't check this one.

Anyway, i did a LOT of work on that engine so i'm tired and out of idea's... for tonight!!! could i blame the throttle body?????

Best regards guys, Ben http://www.benplace.com/vw2.htm
