With a rear locker, you have to loose traction on three wheels to get stuck. With a front and rear locker, instead of getting stuck, you now have the unique capability to break axles or diff shafts pretty much on command and the breakage is not the result of engine torque. For sand use, what you really want is a wide, highway tread tire that does not promote digging.

Now that the decoupler thread has quieted down some.....could someone please explain the pros and cons and costs and availability of a front differential locker? I'm more inclined to keep a stock VC since the only off-road I plan to do is on the beach. But a front locker might be useful in sand, even with the tires aired down.
