Subject: Inexpensive Side Tent Alternative

Hello All,

Let me first say this is only for the very frugal and those on a tight budget... It is not a subsitute for the higher quality awnings and side tents that can be purchased for our Vanagons.

I took a chance the other day while purchasing some items from www.sportsmansguide.com the other day and I think it turned out fine. I bought the Dodge Canopy Tent to try it out. It was less than $40.00. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=265478

Unfortunately, I just checked their site, and they are sold out. But it may be worth looking for elsewhere.

I've placed some photos over on my web site showing what it looks like set up at the sliding door and the rear hatch of my Westy.

I certainly think it was worth the money.

Long term, I think I'll sew or glue a piece of velrco along the bottom edge of the connection section and door, so that I can hang some mosquito netting to keep the pests out at night.
