If the turn signals are not hooked up, then neither are the emergency flashers. Illegal and unsafe. Probably get away with it much of the time, just be careful when and how far you go. Is that poo poo enough? The modern light converters solve the problem for not much money and the result is a standard 4 wire connection to the trailer.
