i think what he is saying is why do you need to search a vehicle because said vehicle has a mechanical problem? that equates to a fix it ticket not a i'm going to rifle through all the stuff in your vehicle and leave it a mess for you proposition.

that invasion of privacy is what some of us find scary. just to clarify i find it scary that people intentionally drive all manner of mechanically failing vehicles, including ones with a lack of proper trailer wiring.
